With over 30 years in principal investing and M&A as well as family- and corporate-strategic advisory, Chip Dunn retired from (then) $12B+ BDT Capital Partners in mid-2017 and subsequently founded Monomyth Group as a platform to pioneer what he now calls monomyth capital. This is quite simply the capital that a company may need periodically over its entire business journey, therefore not distinctly defined as venture capital or private equity or any other conventional moniker today.

Immediately prior to his founding of Monomyth Group, he served as Managing Director/CEO of BDT & Company International, which he launched in London in 2015, having started that effort in 2011. He had been with BDT Capital Partners since mid-2009 when the merchant banking fund was founded in Chicago to focus on working alongside some of the largest family- and founder-led businesses in the world.

Prior to that he was in the Investment Banking Division at Goldman Sachs in Chicago and also previously worked in the M&A groups at each of Lehman Brothers and Bear Stearns as well as FIG/M&A at each of McDonald & Company Securities and The Chicago Corporation. He is currently (i) Chairman and lead investor of Anovion, a leading advanced materials business in the Li-ion battery supply chain in North America, (ii) Chairman and lead investor of Creditspring, a UK-based, tech-enabled, inclusive consumer credit business pioneering a subscription finance model, (iii) Chairman and lead investor of OpenScholar, an open-source collaboration platform and marketplace for research organizations, (iv) Chairman and control investor of Smallhold, a branded, fresh, specialty mushroom and CPG business available nationwide in Whole Foods and other major retailers and (v) principal owner of STONE London and its incubated spin-off of HAWQ Score, a UK-based, health & wellness platform with tech-enabled individual and corporate programs that is developing a proprietary scoring methodology; he also sits on the advisory board of the Yale Football Association.

Chip earned his MBA from the University of Chicago and his BA from Yale University. He is married with two daughters and currently based across London, Chicago and New York areas.
